Thanks to Jess Norrick. Half of the first track was missing for some reason on this cassette copy, so I edited it together with the first half of another rip of this cassette I had that suffered from way too much noise reduction. I added simulated tape noise to the background of the first half to match up the levels with the second half. Anyway, enjoy.

A huge thank you goes to Jess Norrick for providing me with rips of cassette volumes 8-13 for me to restore myself. I have been looking for these for years so I cannot express my gratitude enough. She also provided me with rips of some other rare albums I will be restoring and posting over the next couple of weeks. The quality of these cassettes (for the most part) turned out better than I expected. I threw together this cover art but also included scans of the cassette inserts when possible.

Jules Allen ~ The Singing Cowboy: Complete Recordings, 1928-1929 (2008)

I very rarely purchase the CD's of BACM releases due to the fact that the quality is often hit and miss (unfortunately that's the case with some of the tracks on this one but it actually sounds better than most of their CD's) but this is one of only two albums put out of Jules Allen so I decided to just go ahead and buy it. Him and Carl T. Sprague were probably the first popular cowboy singers, only Jules Allen was the real deal and actually was a cowboy. He even authored a book on cowboy lore and lingo and songs that was published in the thirties. I'd encourage anybody who likes traditional cowboy or western music to track down a copy of it. Please note one or two of the tracks are old minstrel songs that contain racially insensitive language.

WANTED: Bradley Kincaid on Gennett 6989 "When the Work's All Done This Fall"

Bradley Kincaid's marker on the Starr-Gennett Foundation's Walk of Fame.

Do I have any followers that are 78 collectors? I am currently working on compiling and restoring Bradley Kincaid's 78 discography from different sources (mainly re-equalizing the tracks from the JSP box set along with restoring some discs from my own collection) and it's proven pretty difficult as he recorded some songs several times and it's difficult to tell which is which. But by listening closely I've been able to differentiate most.

It seems the only disc I am lacking at this point is his earliest recording of "When the Work's All Done This Fall" for Gennett in 1927. It was only released once on Gennett 6989. If anybody has this disc and has the ability to either transfer it in a lossless format and send it to me or is willing to name a price in order to part with it, please contact me at glenne3@yahoo.com !

Please note: Track 8 has a skip in it due to a pressing defect. I have two copies of this, both in mint condition, and the needle got stuck on both in the exact same spot. They did this on all the equipment I have. I trimmed out the "thump" noise, but the skip is still noticeable.

Very nice compilation focusing on female country artists from the 20's and 30's. Two or three of these tracks were originally unissued which is always very cool to see with material this old since usually most of the sides that were never issued end up lost or destroyed.
