The Carter Family with Johnny Cash ~ Keep On the Sunny Side (1964)
For some reason, this album and a lot of the other CD's from the Johnny Cash box set it was taken from are in mono and not the original stereo.
I dunno, I like Mono. I feel like that for the first decade or so of Stereo on records, the techniques used took the attention from the performance (where the attention should always be focused) to the technology.
It got better when they started having to make stereo albums that could be played on mono players without damage. The stereo wasn't as intense then and consequently wasn't as distracting from the musical performance. That's just my off-the-wall take on things.
The stereo versions are in the Bear Family box sets. By putting the mono versions in the Columbia set, both versions were made available. I, for one, appreciate it.
